YOUTUBE VIDEOS.

It's funny that I already posted videos on here but since I have to prove that I know how do to it, I'll do it again. Here are alot of videos that I created and am sharing on my personal YouTube channel. Some of the videos are just stills with music playing. Enjoy!

Web-based applications.

I like them. Especially Google Docs. I signed up for ZOHO only because I had to, but I prefer Google Docs because it allows me to sync with other Google things like Gmail. Web-based software is good because you don't have to worry about losing files or flash drives or cds and floppys. It also lets you work on group work by sharing files without using an FTP site. Zoho Writer was Ok. But I like Google Docs. This is probably because I have been using it for so long that switching to ZOHO would not make sense.

FACEBOOK VS. MYSPACE

I like Facebook better than MySpace. MySpace has too much junk. Too many bands and porn stars email you constantly to be their friend. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN IN FACEBOOK. Probably because the only way you could get on it was if you were in college. But that's changed. I don't like Facebook as much as I used to. It's beginning to be like MySpace now. Anyone can join. It has all these "applications" that didn't exist before. Instead of having a wall, you can have a super wall, a grafiti wall, etc. I think Facebook is better. Unfortunately some of my friends don't think so, which is why I have to keep my MySpace page, so that I can keep in touch with them. Facebook is like the MySpace for grown ups. It is more "sophisticated," if you will.

Technology.

Thats how I feel about technology. Isn't technology great? Not all technology is electronic. Some people forget that. One of the coolest inventions ever was the printing press. It allowed an explosion of information back in the day. Now, we have books and newspapers!!! All hail technology!

Wiki Wiki.

Wikis are cool. Just be careful. Anyone can change and update info on a wiki. That can be good for some but bad for others. I have no problem with wikis. I use wikipedia sometimes. If you don't know what a wiki is, you are probably too old. hahaha jk

Biblioteca Dos Punto Zero.

Library 1.0 is the top pic. Library 2.0 is the bottom pic. Which looks more fun? Yeah, that's what I thought too! Library 2.0 is way better.
So I laugh to myself when I think of new service models, change, and serving the customer, yada yada yada. Shouldn't we be doing that without being told? Shouldn't librarianship come naturally? Isn't that the biggest reason libraries aren't good is because they fail to relate to their customers?? That is why I like library 2.0.

I think that we don't need to bend over backwards trying to please every customer. If you notice, all us young folk, I.E. ME AND EVERYONE YOUNG LIKE ME, prefer the web over print media. So libraries should quit acting like they own information. Libraries own nothing. Many of us can now do research without stepping foot in the library. Some librarians forget this. They need to take a bite out of some humble pie. So evolution in libraries is key.

I like Library 2.0. Finally some fresh ideas. I will say this though, no matter how must libraries evolve, we must also remember, WE ARE NOT BOOKSTORES. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE BOOKSTORES. WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION LIKE BOOKSTORES. Our charm is that we are libraries.

Technorati.

I think Technorati is "aight." I had already been using it for a while. I wonder if they have come up with other sites like Punkrati, Raprati, Rockrati, Countryrati, Gospelrati, Polkarati, Reggaerati. Oh wait, Technorati refers to technology, not a genre of music. Oops, my bad. Hey, it could be worse. I could be in their shoes...
